Way Welling is a photographer and visual storyteller based in Chicago. His imagery has been featured by Spotify in the global album launch of recording artist Zach Bryan for his album With Heaven on Top, an album that debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. This work was displayed at scale in Times Square, Los Angeles, Nashville, Toronto, and London.
He has been commissioned by artists, brands, and institutions operating at national and global scale. Selected clients include SOHO Art Consulting and the Hyatt Hotels Corporation. His photography was also recognized by Nikon during the company’s 100th anniversary as part of its Nikon 100 distinction, and has been published in Above and Across Chicago.
The majority of his work centers on cities, travel, and the emotional texture of place, often focusing on moments of transition ie. seasonal shifts, changing light, and the spaces between movement and stillness. Rooted in Chicago but shaped by travel and culture, his photography moves between street-level observation and broader architectural and environmental perspectives. The work favors mood, using natural light, weather, and scale to create images that feel cinematic yet grounded in real experience.
